Malic Acid

Malic Acid is the fourth ingredient found in the product.
  • The chemical name for Malic acid is hydroxybutanedioic acid. 
  •  The Chemical Formula for Malic Acid

    C4H6O5
    • The health effects of this substance is that it can cause diarrhea, nausea, and stomach discomfort.  If you use it when using products like creams and lotions it may cause redness, irritation, swelling, or itching. 
    • It is derived from catolytic oxidation of benzene to maleic acid which is then heated with steam under pressure to create malic acid. 
    • It is used in the sweet iced tea mix to replace some of the sour acids that you would typically use in these types of mixes.
